Remember the people you meet. Keep up with the ones who matter.

Frelio is a free, private app I co-founded with Josh Caliguire. It's on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, and I use it every day.

Why I built Frelio

I'm horrible with names. I work from home, a lot of my week is on Zoom, and for a long time my friendships ran on whatever I happened to remember.

My day job is building follow-up systems in HubSpot for nonprofits and ministries. A leadership coach once challenged me to point that same skill at my own relationships. Josh and I built Frelio after that conversation, and I coded it with the help of AI.

I tested it at a conference, then moved house shortly after. Frelio is how I kept all the new names straight.

What Frelio does

Write someone down

A name and one detail, in about five seconds. You can dictate it, or add someone from your Apple Watch.

Adding a new person in Frelio

Remember who was in the room

Start an event at a conference and everyone you add is filed under it. Afterwards, Frelio quizzes you on the names while the faces are fresh.

Keep up with your Circle

Pick the handful of people you're investing in and set a check-in rhythm for each one. When someone has gone quiet, you get a nudge. No streaks, no scores.

Every person has a timeline: the day you met, the notes you took and each time you caught up.

Free on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, with an Apple Watch app for adding someone from your wrist.

Nobody can read your notebook, including us

Your notebook lives on your devices. If you create a Frelio account to sync it, it's encrypted on your device before it leaves, so Frelio can store it but can't read it. There are no ads, nothing tracks you across other apps or websites, and there's no feed and no followers.

Built with Josh

Josh Caliguire is my co-founder. We're two friends born a generation apart, and he's good at the two things I'm bad at: meeting new people, and staying intentional with the friends he already has.

He writes about how he learned both in the field notes on frelioapp.com.
